SmartDrive is a Measured Safety Program provider that reduces claims costs and saves lives by improving the way people drive. The SmartDrive in-vehicle unit attaches to a vehicle’s windshield behind the rearview mirror and consists of 2 cameras—one facing forward, the other facing the driver—that are continuously recording. When an unsafe driving event occurs, such as taking a corner too fast, the G-force sensors in the SmartDrive unit are triggered and 15 seconds before and 15 seconds after the trigger is stored on video. SmartDrive captures speeding, tailgating, aggressive acceleration, and over 50 other common infractions.
SmartDrive’s wireless technology platform uploads all of these saved problematic driving events to a secure server where they are reviewed and scored by highly trained SmartDrive employees. The resulting driver-by-driver statistics, highlighted video clips of accidents and “near misses,” trend analysis, and other information are provided to SmartDrive customers daily using a web-based service. SmartDrive customers can access this information, run reports on their fleets, and watch highlighted video and audio clips from anywhere they have Internet access.
